General Cover Teacher
Location: Durham
Salary: £130–£160 per day
Start Date: September 2025

Are you a versatile and committed teacher looking for flexible work this coming academic year? We’re recruiting General Cover Teachers to support a range of secondary schools across Durham starting September 2025. This role is ideal for educators who are confident working across different subjects and enjoy the variety of stepping into new classroom environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver pre-planned lessons across various subjects in the absence of the regular teacher
• Maintain a positive, well-managed classroom environment
• Support students of all abilities, offering guidance and encouragement
• Provide feedback and help keep student records up to date
• Collaborate with school staff to ensure continuity in teaching and learning

What We’re Looking For:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (essential)
• Secondary school teaching experience (desirable)
• Confident classroom management skills
• A flexible, proactive approach to working in different school settings
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
• A team player who can also work independently when needed

Requirements:

• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Two recent professional references
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
