Full-time Science teacher required from January 2020 until the end of the academic year for a large secondary school in Bury.

With a member of staff set to take maternity leave following the Christmas break, this mixed comprehensive secondary school wish to appoint a dedicated Science teacher to join their Science staff team. If you are a newly qualified or experienced Science specialist seeking an exciting new opportunity to work in a 'Good' Ofsted rated secondary school, please see the details below for further information. Our client school have informed us they would prefer the successful candidate to have a specialism in Chemistry however this is not essential.

  • Full time Science teacher required to cover a maternity leave from January 2020 until the end of the academic year.
  • Must hold QTS alongside subject specific degree level qualification or equivalent within a relevant Science (preferably Chemistry).
  • Both experienced and newly qualified Science teachers are welcome to apply as relevant support will be provided.
  • Opportunity to work in an Ofsted rated 'Good' Secondary School.
  • Pay in line with MPS/UPS £24,373 - £40,490 per annum.

The responsibilities for the incoming Science teacher will include;

  • To lead a full time table delivering inventive Science lessons, planning, preparing and evaluating all class work.
  • Assessing and evaluating student's progress and reporting this back to Senior Leaders in order to take appropriate action to ensure pupils meet their aims and objectives.
  • Support with the development of Schemes of Work in line with the National Curriculum for Science alongside ensuring the lessons meet the needs of students at various levels of learning.

The school has excellent facilities with over 1000 pupils on roll, aged 11-16. Exam results in the department have continued to improve in recent years with pupils achieving results in line with the national average. The Science department has state of the art facilities and modern resources which can be utilised within the classrooms and practical laboratories.

Our client secondary school is located in Bury and can be accessed via the M66 and A56 from surrounding areas such as Bolton and Salford. For non-drivers, there are several public transportation links from surrounding areas including Bolton, Salford and central Manchester.
