Unqualified Teaching Assistant
Location: Bridgend
Full-Time & Part-Time (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM)
£89.38 per day (£13.75 per hour)
Start Date: September

We’re currently recruiting Unqualified Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) at a welcoming and inclusive SEN school in Bridgend. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and emotionally.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting teachers in delivering adapted lessons to meet students’ individual needs
  • Working 1:1 or in small groups with pupils who require additional support
  • Promoting a calm, inclusive and supportive classroom environment
  • Helping students with their social skills, emotional regulation, and behavioural development
  • Preparing classroom materials and assisting in lesson planning
  • Encouraging independence and boosting student confidence

About the School:

  • Supports learners aged 3–19 with a variety of ALN
  • Small class sizes (typically no more than 10 students) with a high staff-to-student ratio
  • Child-centred approach, combining sensory-based and practical learning strategies
  • A nurturing and positive environment where every student’s needs are prioritised

Who We’re Looking For:

  • No formal teaching qualifications required
  • Experience working with children or young people is highly desirable
  • Compassionate, patient, and adaptable individuals
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • A real interest in supporting learners with ALN
  • Reliable and available during school hours (8:30 AM – 3:30 PM) in the Bridgend area

Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (we can support you with the application)
  • Registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) – support available
  • Able to provide two recent references covering the last 24 months

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
