Job description

A school in Manchester is seeking English Teacher to join the teaching staff on a temporary basis.

The role will commence after the Christmas break, and will run until the end of the academic year.

Requirements for this position:

  • QTS or a relevant, recognised teaching qualification.
  • Prior experience in the teaching of English Literature and English language.
  • A passion for reading, literacy and developing learners skills when it comes to tackling examination syllabus.
  • The ability to teach those with SEN/EAL needs, and ensuring that these students are able to access an inclusive learning process at all times.

Key aspects of this position are:

  • Developing students ability when it comes to applying themselves, both with regards to comprehension as well as more anthology based work.
  • Encouraging students to use multimedia resources to enhance overall progression.
  • Working to improve students written vocabulary, as well as setting tasks that allow for students to think on a more creative, independent basis.
  • Considering the implications that essay writing subjects can have, and being able to apply methods to help students combat common areas of difficulty.
  • Producing material and resources that have been differentiated to match the needs of all students within the class.

Pay will range between GBP25,000 and GBP41,000 annually, based on prior experience.

The required individual should be:

  • Consistent in their application of behaviour management policies, adopting a firm but fair attitude.
  • Personable and approachable in their nature.
  • Able to always adopt a positive demeanour when in the classroom and across the school site.

  • Located in Central Manchester, the school is very close to the city centre.
  • There are numerous transport links close by.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
