Teaching Personnel are currently working alongside a secondary school in Northamptonshire who are seeking a teacher of science to cover a Maternity leave. The cover is due to start at the end of January and will run for 2-3 months initially, however does have the opportunity to be extended. The school have an excellent reputation within the wider community which is maintained by consistently providing high standards of teaching and learning. The examination results achieved by the school demonstrate that they are consistently high achieving. In 2017-18 85% of students achieved GCSE grades 9-4 in English and 81% Maths. At A Level 43% of grades achieved were A*-B and 96% A*-E. They also hold the prestigious 'Career Mark' Gold Award. The Science department is committed to providing an excellent learning experience for students of all abilities. In Science lessons, the school use a range of teaching and learning strategies, many including the latest interactive technologies, together with the best of traditional teaching methods. The department are particularly proud of our work on improving the classroom environment and the use of 'Assessment for learning' in lessons, where students are actively encouraged to become involved in their own learning. The role will be a full time teaching Science to KS3/KS4 with planning and marking involved.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a fully qualified science teacher or a science specialist with experience teaching secondary school students
  • Able to plan dynamic lessons which cater to all learning styles and abilities
  • Able to track pupil progress effectively
  • Have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
