General Cover Teacher

Job description

Are you a qualified teacher looking for casual supply teaching within secondary schools in the South Manchester area?

Many of the secondary schools we work in the Stockport, Levenshulme, Chorlton and Trafford areas require general cover teachers to teach on a casual basis within their schools in advance of November and December as it gets busier with regards cover. During the final half term of the Autumn term and into January, the demand for general cover increases dramatically as a result of long term planned absences, short term sickness, internal courses for staff and school trips playing a part in cover.

The successful general cover teacher may have a specialism which will often be advantageous and be matched with, so if you are a Humanities teacher or Art teacher for example able to cover on a general basis, apply now. Typically, there isn't any planning or marking required with the general cover teacher role with a day usually consisting of arriving at school for 8:20 - 8:30am and finishing at 3pm having covered 5 lessons.

Highlights of the General Cover teaching role:

  • Pay between £95 - £130 for a day's cover depending on the school and the role
  • Casual, flexible supply teaching available in the South Manchester area
  • Range of secondary schools to teach in, including:
    • Single gender, academically strong as well as more diverse and behaviour orientated secondary schools
  • Opportunity to gain a variety of experiences and network within secondary schools
  • Work through Teaching Personnel who have relationships with a number of secondary schools who request day to day and longer term teachers on a regular basis

If you are a qualified teacher who is available for general teaching roles and are perhaps signed up with another agency or newly available, then apply now with your latest CV for a call back and immediate consideration.

This role is ideal if you are available for a selection of days each week or for shorter or longer periods of time looking for flexibility as appropriate.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
