Teaching Personnel is the largest education agency operating across England and Wales. We are working closely with several SEN schools across the South East London boroughs including Southwark, Lambeth, Lewisham, Greenwich, Bexley, Bromley and Croydon.

As an SEN teaching assistant you will assist the children's sensory development, as well as their academic, social and emotional development. You will follow direction from the class teacher and work collaboratively with up to 5 teaching assistants per class, and up to just 10 students per class.

You can expect the following:

  • £57 - £95 per day, dependent on the role, the school and on your experience
  • Working hours 08:30am - 15:30pm, term time only
  • Purpose built facilities including sensory rooms and circuits, gardens, hydrotherapy, forest school, trampolining, soft play areas
  • Support children with autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, global delay, physical disabilities or medical conditions, mental health difficulties, behavioural difficulties
  • Ofsted rated 'good' and 'outstanding' schools to work in
  • Opportunity to work across different schools (daily supply) or to secure a regular position within the same school
  • Excellent communication with your consultant at the agency
  • Pension scheme available
  • No umbrella company - we pay your employer national insurance contribution

Having some or all of the following would be beneficial in applying:

  • Experience from working in SEN schools
  • Experience working in health and social care, nursing, residential support
  • Training in any of the following: safeguarding, child protection, PECs, Makaton, Team Teach, multisensory impairment, moving and handling, administering medication, autism awareness
  • Education to degree level - Psychology, Education Studies, Nursing, Sociology, Health and Social Care, Youth Work or similar
  • An understanding of the national curriculum P-scales
  • Calm and patient manner
  • The desire to make a difference to disabled children's lives
