Full time Mathematics Graduate Teaching Assistant required for small mixed comprehensive Secondary school in Bury.

Teaching Personnel are in the process of recruiting for a passionate, dedicated Mathematics Graduate to work as a Teaching Assistant within the Maths department at our client Secondary school in Bury from September 2018.

This position will provide the successful Mathematics Graduate with the skills and experiences necessary to excel on a future teacher training programme.

The role of the Mathematics Graduate Teaching Assistant:

  • Working alongside Mathematics teachers to plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons
  • Supporting identified pupils across Key Stage Three and Key Stage Four with Mathematics
  • Working with pupils in small groups and on a 1:1 basis to deliver Mathematics interventions
  • Covering Mathematics lessons in the absence of the class teacher with pre-set work
  • Assessing pupils progress and monitoring behaviour within the classes

The successful Mathematics Graduate Teaching Assistant will be employed on a full time temporary basis from September 2018 until the end of the academic year 2018/2019. This position may continue further depending upon the successes of the initial year.

*It is essential that the incoming Mathematics Graduate Teaching Assistant has previous experience working with children and/or young people. *

The small mixed comprehensive Secondary school currently has 500 pupils on roll and serves a diverse catchment area, meaning a high proportion of pupils speak English as an Additional Language (EAL) and are below the expected target grades within core subjects.

Located in central Bury, the school can easily be accessed via the M66 Motorway, and for non-drivers there are a number of public transportation links that lead directly to the school from neighbouring areas Salford, Rochdale and Bolton.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
