Teaching Personnel are currently supporting the recruitment of a Year 5 teacher on behalf of a Primary school based in Blackburn, Lancashire. 

This position has recently become available due to the current teacher going on maternity leave, the Head Teacher has stated she is looking for a well-organised and passionate Year 5 Teacher, who has an in-depth knowledge of the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum. The Senior Leadership Team within the school are keen to welcome a new member to their team who can hit the ground running and can encourage development of each pupil within the class.

There is a strong sense of teamwork throughout the staff and there are great opportunities for the teachers to develop their leadership skills through ‘Curriculum Teams’ where they can share ideas and expertise.

Behaviour within the school is over all good, however, it is required that the successful candidate can uphold the schools behavioural policy through positive behaviour strategies, as well as upholding the school ethos.

Your responsibilities:

  • To differentiate activities to meet the individual needs of children – both challenging and supporting.
  • To liaise and plan teaching and learning with support staff in line with school policy.
  • Set a good learning example to the children through the preparation of lessons.
  • Teach the process of self-assessment to encourage pupils to think about their own learning.
  • Write reports on each child’s progress for parents, stating areas for future developments and shared targets
  • Be responsible for arrangements for preparing pupils for external examinations, assessing pupils for the purposes of such examinations and recording and reporting such assessments
  • Identify children causing particular concern and inform the SENCO or Headteacher
  • Be responsible for reinforcing school positive behaviour policy/code of conduct

Candidate requirements:

  • Fully Qualified, experience of class teaching in Key Stage 2 (Year 5 ideally)
  • Newly Qualified Teachers with Key Stage 2 experience

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
