Our client school are seeking to appoint an experienced Teaching Assistant to support their Special Educational Needs department in the new academic year. This is a highly supportive central Manchester based secondary school that is part of a larger trust of schools in the Greater Manchester area. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful Teaching Assistant to not only work supporting students gaining a sense of worth but also have the opportunity to gain further experience in working with a team of professional teachers. The school is ideally looking for an enthusiastic and motivated member of support staff to provide the students with the best provision possible supporting in small groups, on a 1:1 basis and students in general. Any former experience of supporting students with ADHD, Autism or specific/moderate learning difficulties is highly desirable.
Key highlights of this Teaching Assistant position:
- Pay ranging between £1200 - £1400 per month dependent upon prior experience
- Highly supportive secondary school with fantastic facilities and a new building
- Work with students supporting special educational needs such as moderate learning difficulties, Autism and ADHD
- Full time requirement for a SEN Teaching Assistant; likely for the whole academic year
The school is ideally looking for a Teaching Assistant that can start with them at the beginning of the new academic year on 3rd September 2019. There is some flexibility in the start date, as long as the successful Teaching Assistant is able to start with the school during the first month of September. There will be opportunity to support the new year 7 cohort of students with a variety of assistance being put in place from academic, to nurture and more specialist assistance.
The school is situated in the central Manchester area in pleasant surroundings, boasting fantastic facilities. It is easily accessible from the city centre via public transport and also via the major A road routes within the area. The school is set within a thriving community and as a result of the catchment area has over 50% of students who first language is not English. The school has a number of provisions in place to ensure students are comfortable at school and enjoy school life. As a result, the school are looking to appoint an inspirational Teaching Assistant who may have experience working with young adults whose first language isn't English although not essential.
The successful candidate would ideally have experience working as a Teaching Assistant and may have experience working with pupils that have special educational needs. This could come from a secondary school setting or a similar environment where the skillset obtained is transferable.
