Tutor

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate LAC Tutors to provide one-to-one and small group tuition to Looked After Children across the North Yorkshire area. This role is ideal for teachers, tutors, or education professionals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people and helping them reach their full academic potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver personalised learning plans to LAC pupils in core subjects (primarily English and Maths, with potential for others depending on student needs).

• Foster a supportive and engaging learning environment tailored to the individual’s needs, learning styles, and emotional well-being.

• Work closely with local authorities, schools, social workers, and carers to monitor progress and adapt strategies.

• Maintain accurate records of sessions, attendance, and progress.

• Ensure safeguarding and confidentiality standards are upheld at all times.

Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), teaching qualification, or substantial tutoring experience.

• Experience working with Looked After Children or young people with additional needs is highly desirable.

• Strong communication, empathy, and relationship-building skills.

• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

• Ability to work flexibly – sessions may take place during or after school hours, in-person or online.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
