Year 2 Teaching Assistant

An Ofsted graded ‘GOOD’ primary school in Accrington is looking for a Year 2 teaching assistant to provide one-to-one support to a child with special educational needs. The role is to start as soon as possible and is planned to continue until the summer holidays with the potential of going onto a school contract.

Role & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work predominantly alongside a child in the Year 2 class, providing one-to-one support to enable them to access the Key Stage 1 core curriculum and assist with their speech and language needs. In addition to this, the role will require you to provide general classroom support across the Year 1 and Year 2 classes, which will include delivering small group interventions.

Working hours are from 08:30 – 15:30, Monday - Friday

Job Specification - Essential Requirements

In order to be short-listed for the position, you must have/ be the following:

-          Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification or above

-          Recent experience of providing specialist support to individuals with SEN

-          Recent experience working alongside children in Key Stage 1

-          Confident with delivering small group interventions

-          Child workforce DBS on the online update service or willing to apply for a new DBS

This primary school is located in Accrington and services a mixed catchment area. The proportion of pupils known to be eligible for free school meals is below the national average; however the number of pupils identified as having special educational needs is above average.
