  • GBP60 - GBP65 per day, above the National Living Wage

Job Description:- SEN Teaching Assistant

You will be part of the Special Needs Resources Base team as part of this role and you will be expected to support children with additional learning needs and assist the classroom teacher with the planning, implementation and evaluation of pupils’ educational plans. You will also need to help the pupils understand instructions, given by the classroom teacher, through repetition, re-phrasing or demonstrating. You will need to work autonomously as part of a team within a range of settings and support the teacher with the deliverance of the national curriculum through planned lessons and activities.

This school based in the heart of Monmouth has a motto of ‘Every Child Matters, Every Moment Counts’ and the school try their very best to develop the ethos of a caring community in which all individuals are equally valued and celebrated. There are 346 pupils on roll aged from 3-11 years old with 14 classes and a special needs resource base for pupils with statements of special educational needs. The special needs resource base, know as the Heron class, caters for children with a wide range of disabilities. Some of the children have profound and multiple problems, genetics conditions, congenital disorders, autism and severe learning difficulties. In the schools latest inspection  they were rated ‘Good’ in all inspections areas and ESTYN commented that the provision for additional learning needs is strong.

The Candidate:-

  • To demonstrate the ability to work with disabled children
  • Obtain the ability to be proactive in situation that can be challenging
  • To be very engaging and be light hearted in difficult times
  • Demonstrate a positive and patient attitude
  • Enhanced child DBS, you will be assisted with this upon application
  • EWC registration, you will be assistant with this upon application
  • Provide 2 x references
