Job Title: Teaching Assistant (SEN Focus)
Salary: Dependent on experience (in line with local pay scale)

About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and moderate learning difficulties. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children by helping them access learning and reach their potential.
Key Responsibilities:

Support pupils in a range of learning activities, both in class and on a 1:1 or small group basis.

Assist in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of learning experiences under the guidance of the class teacher.

Help pupils develop social skills, emotional regulation, and independence through consistent, nurturing support.

Provide tailored support in line with individual EHCPs and behaviour plans.

Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
-
Support with personal care, supervision during offsite activities, and maintaining pupil engagement throughout the day.

Communicate effectively with pupils, parents/carers, and staff to promote well-being and progress.
Essential Skills and Experience:
-
Experience working with children with additional needs, particularly those with SEMH or learning difficulties.

Understanding that behaviour is a form of communication.
-
Calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting challenging behaviour.
-
Ability to follow behaviour and learning plans consistently.
-
Strong team-working skills and a flexible, positive attitude.
Desirable:
-
Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2 or 3, or equivalent).

Training or experience in Team Teach or similar de-escalation techniques.

Knowledge of EHCPs and SEND Code of Practice.

High levels of patience, resilience, and emotional intelligence.

Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
