An SEN school in Plymouth is seeking passionate, flexible and committed individuals to join us as Education, Health and Care Assistants (EHCA). About Us:
Located in Plymouth, the school supports 85 pupils aged 2 to 19 with a range of physical and learning needs. Every pupil has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and your role as an EHCA will be key to delivering the tailored support that enables each young person to thrive.

The Role:
As an EHCA, you will:

  • Work closely with teachers, HLTA, and medical staff to support learning, health, and personal care needs.

  • Deliver specialist support in line with pupils’ EHCPs.

  • Participate in medical training and carry out health-related duties including gastrostomy care, tracheostomy support, and epilepsy intervention (full training provided).

  • Support pupils with communication, emotional wellbeing, and behaviour.

  • Help with personal and intimate care as needed.

  • Promote independence, dignity, and respect in all aspects of support.

You’ll be someone who is:

  • Kind, patient, and committed to improving lives.

  • A good communicator who works well in a team.

  • Willing to learn and undertake a range of specialist training.

  • Able to adapt to a varied and physically demanding role.

Essential Criteria:

  • NVQ/Diploma Level 2 or equivalent in education, health, or care.

  • Good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills (GCSE or Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English).

  • Experience working with children.

Desirable:

  • NVQ/Diploma Level 3 or higher.

  • Experience supporting individuals with complex medical or learning needs.

  • Knowledge of child development, behaviour management, and communication systems such as PECS or Makaton.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
