A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a proactive and inspiring Teaching Assistant who is seeking a long-term, full-time position within a welcoming Primary School in Chorley. 

The SENCo of an Ofsted graded ‘GOOD’ school would like to appoint an additional member of support staff to work across the Year 4 and 5 classes.

In the mornings, during the Literacy and Numeracy lessons, you will be based in the Year 4 class. You will be required to work alongside a group of 5/6 pupils who have been identified as working towards the Year 4 expectations and are at risk of falling behind. You must have excellent subject knowledge in relation to English and Maths and be able to actively support the groups of pupils to achieve exceeded progress. Knowledge of the Year 4 expectations is also essential.

In the afternoons, you will be based in the Year 5 class. You will be required to take small groups of children out of their afternoon lessons to provide booster sessions in English and Maths for both pupils working towards the Year 5 expectations and pupils on the cusp of becoming ‘greater depth’. You will be provided with the learning objectives to focus upon and suggested activities to support them in achieving these. Knowledge of the Year 5 expectations is essential.

At the end of each lesson/ session, you will be expected to feedback to the Class Teacher, whether that be verbally or by completing a progress sheet provided.

The school is located in Chorley. The proportion of pupils eligible for the pupil premium is in line with the national average, and the number of pupils with SEN is above the average for a primary school.

You will be well supported by a welcoming team of staff, who are all committed to achieve the very best outcomes for their pupils. The school SENCo will be your first port of call within school, and you will be expected to attend meeting with them, and the other Teaching Assistants in school, on a weekly basis.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
