Teaching Assistant

Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking 1:1 teaching assistants in the Southampton area to facilitate the learning and development of KS3 and KS4 students.

We work with a wide-range of students who have a diverse set of needs. It will be your responsibility to support pupils in preparing for exams, during transition to a new area or new setting and to provide high quality education to support learning and ensure continuity and progression.

You will be working within a secondary school setting, in and outside of the classroom. The core focus of sessions is to improve skills in Maths and English. You will also have a sound working knowledge of de-escalating challenging behaviour in order to meet the Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs of the young people.

Essential Skills:

– Understanding and appreciation of working with vulnerable young people and those with additional needs

- Excellent time-keeping and organisational skills

- Confident with managing behaviour
