Special Needs Learning Support Assistant

Teaching Personnel are currently looking for a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant Assistant to work in a school that provide excellent education for pupils aged 11 - 16 years who have a Statement or an Education Health and Care plan (EHCP). This includes students with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Communication needs and/or Autism.

As a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant you will be responsible for promoting an all inclusive for SEN students, whilst assisting other staff members to maintain a supportive classroom. The school provides support for both the educational and emotional development of young people. Pupils are taught in small groups of no more than thirteen and groups have a teacher and an additional adult (Learning Support Assistant) with each class group.

The ideal candidate:

- Previous experience working with young children, and have had exposure to working with SEN
- Have a patient, nurturing disposition
- First Aid trained will be ideal
- Specific SEN training (Team Teach, Autism Awareness, Manual Handling)
- Have the ability to use their initiative
- Be able to multitask and have the flexibility to help in a variety of situations, with different ages and classes.
- Be happy to work in small groups and on a one to one basis.

This is a lovely school, with friendly staff and a happy environment. Getting involved with the pupils and staff from the get-go, and have a genuine interest in Special Educational Needs is a must.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
