Job description

The Headteacher and SENCO of a reputable Primary School in Hackney (Dalston, E9) are looking for a Children’s Support Worker to work alongside individual children in school on a 1:1 basis. The SENCO is keen to make sure each child is receiving the right level of support in light with current circumstances and bring new fresh ideas to the school on how they can improve Children’s Mental Health.

The role will be working during the day providing support to children on a 1:1 basis, pupil numbers are yet to be identified however the role is likely to be 4 days per week and continue until July 2021. This is a new role in school and the Headteacher is keen to renew the contract again from September 2021 for the 2021/22 academic year. The SENCO and Headteacher have also noted that some sessions will be delivered remotely via ZOOM for children who are not currently learning in the school environment, however the successful applicant will be expected to deliver the sessions from school and liaise closely with the school SENCO.

This will be a highly rewarding experience for a candidate who has previously provided SEMH support to children or vulnerable adults. A counselling qualification would be advantageous however not essential. Childcare or Health and Social Care Qualification or equivalent is essential for this role. Rates of pay are competitive for work of this nature.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
