Job description

Teaching Personnel are current partnered with a wonderful independent special school based in Crouch End, near to Archway station who specialise in education for children diagnosed with Autism. A majority of the children have severe speech and language difficulties; therefore we are looking for experienced and dedicated individuals with experience using PECS, Makaton or BSL to join their dedicated team of Learning Support Assistants.

The school provides education to around 50 children in total, all with varying levels of Autism and additional complex needs. You will be providing learning support to a class of 6-8 children alongside 2 other teaching assistants and a teacher. The school follows their own sensory learning curriculum in order to maximise the potential and make use of skills of their students.

The role would start ASAP and promises a permanent contract to successful applicants. This school is highly focused on the career development of their teachers and LSA’s and so will be highly supportive and geared towards ensuring all staff feel welcomed and amply equipped to provide support in their classrooms.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children with Autism
  • Have experience using non-verbal communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, BSL and sensory play
  • Have an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one
  • Have right to work in the UK
  • Be interested in a permanent contract
  • Be available full time
  • Be approachable and flexible
  • Have some experience with challenging behaviours

Day Rates: GBP60-GBP75
