Are you a recent graduate or are you graduating this summer? Do you want to work within the education sector but have limited or no experience? Not to worry, a secondary Special Educational Needs school want fresh graduates to be recruited as Teaching Assistants in Amber Hill.

You will be required to work 1:1 or in small groups with KS3 and KS4 pupils. These students are high achievers but are suffering from mental health conditions such as eating disorders, anxiety, depression, psychosis, schizophrenia and instances of self-harm. Additionally, you would be required to support the education of teenage going through pregnancy and oncology patients.

This role will start on a temporary contract with a view to go permanent for the right candidate. Ideally, you will have a degree in Psychology, Mental Health or an educational specific degree. The school are looking to support the right candidate's development within the school, providing extensive training to become fully qualified.

The successful candidate will therefore have to have:

  • University degree (2:2 or higher)
  • 2-3 A levels (A-C) or equivalent
  • 5 GSCEs (A*-C) or equivalent
  • Valid driving licence with own vehicle
  • Passion to support SEN students and the ambition to progress within the education sector

You will need to show:

  • Commitment to working with pupils with SEN and mental health disorders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Initiative and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to manage confrontation and challenging behaviour
  • Observant and responsive approach
  • Patience, understanding and empathy with pupils and parents
  • A sense of humour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
