English Teacher (Maternity Cover)

  • Full time English teacher post, starting in October
  • Teaching English across KS3 and KS4 to different ability students
  • Attractive pay rates in line with MPS/UPS

Due to a maternity leave our client secondary school situated in Oldham is currently seeking a Teacher of English to join their department on a full time basis; this position will be from October until the end of the academic year.

• Temporary English teaching post starting in October

• Work in an Ofsted graded ‘Good’ secondary school

• Both experienced and newly qualified English teachers encouraged to apply

Our client secondary school is a smaller than average mixed11-16 academy with around 850 students currently on roll. The school is located in Oldham, close to Royton and is easily accessible from the A627 road and for non-drivers there is a range of transport links situated close to the school. The school serves the diverse catchment area with almost all the pupils being from minority ethnic background and therefore speak English as an additional language. In their 2016 Ofsted inspection the school received a ‘Good’ grading across all areas and currently meets the governments floor standards, which is the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress in English and Mathematics.

Responsibilities of the incoming English Teacher:

• Facilitate and encourage a positive learning environment for all students

• Develop English lessons to motivate and challenge students in order to raise attainment

• Build report and use different teaching strategies to keep students engaged

• Work alongside the English department to identify students that need additional support.
