Computer Science Teacher

START DATE: 1 September 2019

CONTRACT TYPE: Full time or part time

A large oversubscribed secondary school in Portsmouth are looking to recruit a new colleague to contribute to the continual success of its ICT department. This opportunity has arisen owing to the expansion of the Academy trust in which the school belongs. They are in search of a teacher who is looking to develop their own career within a highly supportive environment.

The school has a history of achieving result above the national average and regularly out performs other schools within the surrounding area. At GCSE level, students make excellent progress in all subjects, and its computer Science intake continues to increase year upon year. Computer Science is a popular subject at GCSE level and offer this subjects as well as other vocational subjects such as digital media and information technology. Computer Science is taught to all students at KS3, after which pupils can choose which subjects they wish to pursue.

Across the school students behaviour is good, with its most recent Ofsted report stating that teachers and SLT implement policies and sanctions that are clear and fair, and that pupils are very responsive to this. The academy is in a period of growth, which has led to the expansion of the school, with a larger cohort and extension of the schools building.

Applicants should have:

  • A degree related to the subject and teaching qualification
  • At least 2 years' teaching experience
  • Experience in teaching to GCSE level
  • Experience with the UK National curriculum
