Special Needs Teaching Assistant

Our school is looking to appoint Special Needs Teaching Assistants based in or local to Twickenham to work across our primary and secondary departments. We provide a safe and engaging environment with high expectations where every pupil is challenged to reach their full potential. Children in our school are aged 4-19 years with speech, language and communication difficulties but may also have social communication needs and/or Autism.

We are looking for special needs teaching assistants confident supporting SEN pupils 1:1 in class with academic subjects such as Maths, English Science and areas of development such as behaviour, speech and self-care. Due to the varied needs across the school with staff self-isolating and additional pupil funding we would need a flexible SEN TA open to working across KS2, KS3 and KS4 classes. Children within the classes may be have additional learning and social difficulties so having training or experience using PECS, TEACCH, Makaton and Team Teach will be highly beneficial.

We hope to appoint a full-time special need teaching assistant to start in January 2021 or potentially sooner.

  • Speech and language needs:  Non-verbal/limited speech
  • Autism
  • Severe Learning Difficulties
  • Cognitive or Developmental disorders
  • PECS
  • Makaton
  • Personal care
  • Team Teach, Studio 3 or physical intervention

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
