I would like to hear from you if the answer to these questions is yes! I am working with a large SEN school that caters for students with profound and multiple learning difficulties. They are looking to recruit a dedicated and proactive learning support assistant, who is passionate about working children with special needs and is able to use hoist equipment for the moving and handling of students who have physical disabilities.

  • Start in September for a period of 7 weeks to begin with - potential to continue for the rest of the academic year if you are successful and like the school
  • Support a key stage 4 class comprising 9 students with a mixture of physical/medical needs
  • Support the class teacher and work collaboratively with 3 other teaching assistants
  • Take part in sensory development and work on verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Use hoist equipment on a daily basis for moving and handling
  • Provide personal care - assist with toileting and changing
  • Work school hours - 08:30am - 15:30pm Monday to Friday, term time only
  • Relevant training in Makaton, PECS, moving and handling, first aid, child protection or safeguarding is desirable

  • Receive weekly pay at a competitive rate with potential to increase your salary after the first 7 weeks (starting salary between £60 and £70 per day, dependent on experience, with a maximum of £85 to £90 per day)
  • Teaching Personnel pay an extra £5 to £10 per day on top of your take home salary as a national insurance and pension contribution

  • Work under the supervision of an extremely organised and supportive SLT
  • Recommend a teaching assistant or teacher to Teaching Personnel and receive a £50 bonus each time you recommend someone who then works for us
