Job description

Personal Care, Teaching Assistant

  • Do you have experience of supporting children or adults with Severe Learning and/or Physical Disabilities?
  • Are you familiar with communication systems such as PECS and Makaton?
  • Do you have any specific training such as Moving and Handling, Peg Feeding, Tracheostomy, Gastro?

Our client caters for students in a number of different settings. On the main school site, students at Key Stages 3 and 4 and in the post-16 or sixth form have a range of complex needs including physical disabilities and autism spectrum conditions with additional learning difficulties, severe and moderate learning difficulties and a small number of students have profound and multiple learning difficulties.

The school believes that all young people should have the opportunity to achieve their maximum potential and the school seeks to achieve this not only through the formal curriculum on offer to each child but also through an extensive range of extra curricular activities.

Pupils are taught in small class groups which enables them to receive the individual attention that they require. Each class group has at least one classroom assistant attached to them.

If you have experience of working with children or adults with similar conditions, either through paid employment or personal experience, please apply asap! Additional training such as Team-Teach, Moving and Handling, Peg Feeding, Gastro and Tracheostomy would be an advantage, as would familiarity with PECS or Makaton.

Short Term supply assignments available, as well as longer term placements and potentially permanent contracts.
