We are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work within a Secondary school. The school is for those aged 11-18 and all of the pupil have been diagnosed with Special Educational Needs.

The school houses many facilities such as specialist classrooms for subjects such as Science, Art and Food Tech, but additionally has a wide array of Outdoor spaces such as a multi use sports area, a green house. All of these facilities with be available to you as a Teaching assistant to help promote the progress of the young people you work with and inspire them to achieve as much as they can.

The school has been recently rated as OFSETD as Outstanding and is in the top 4% of Special Schools nationwide. There is a wide range of needs at the school including Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties and complex needs.

The Teaching Assistants role would be to support the children in their development. Depending on the needs of the children /class you would support, this may be communication activities, play centred tasks or holistic therapies. Your role would be supported by a Teacher and one or more Teaching Assistants.

The school is located in Wigan and is easily accessible by both road and public transport.

The successful Teaching Assistant would aim to support the schools vision of supporting each leaner. The qualities you should have are:

  • Experience working with those with Special Educational Needs

  • A friendly and engaging personality

  • A commitment to assisting those who are vulnerable.

 To be successful in your application, you must be able to provide evidence of this as skills and experience.

Please be aware that all applicants will be subject to background checks and will need a current DBS certificate (update service registered). Teaching Personnel can support your application should this be required.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm approximately, but you may be offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
