Job description
SEMH Teacher – Permanent Position
Location: Hamilton Square
A highly reputable, award-winning group of special educational needs (SEN) schools is seeking a dedicated and inspiring SEMH Teacher to join the permanent teaching team at one of their specialist schools in Hamilton Square. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to thrive both academically and personally within a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with SEMH needs.

Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.

Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching approaches to secure positive outcomes.
-
Foster positive relationships with pupils, encouraging resilience, confidence, and self-esteem.
-
Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, parents, and external agencies to provide holistic support.
-
Promote a safe, respectful, and nurturing learning environment.
Requirements:
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

Proven experience teaching children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably in a specialist or alternative provision setting.

Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques, SEMH strategies, and trauma-informed practice.

Ability to differentiate teaching to suit a variety of learning styles and abilities.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and classroom management skills.

Resilience, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting the wellbeing of all pupils.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
