SEMH Teacher – Permanent Position
Location: Hamilton Square

A highly reputable, award-winning group of special educational needs (SEN) schools is seeking a dedicated and inspiring SEMH Teacher to join the permanent teaching team at one of their specialist schools in Hamilton Square. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to thrive both academically and personally within a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with SEMH needs.

• Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.

• Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching approaches to secure positive outcomes.

• Foster positive relationships with pupils, encouraging resilience, confidence, and self-esteem.

• Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, parents, and external agencies to provide holistic support.

• Promote a safe, respectful, and nurturing learning environment.

Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

• Proven experience teaching children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably in a specialist or alternative provision setting.

• Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques, SEMH strategies, and trauma-informed practice.

• Ability to differentiate teaching to suit a variety of learning styles and abilities.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and classroom management skills.

• Resilience, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting the wellbeing of all pupils.

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
