Teaching Assistant – SEMH School
Location: The Wirral
Position: Full-Time
Are you a passionate and experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a new and rewarding challenge? A well-established SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in The Wirral is seeking a committed individual to join their supportive team on a full-time basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people who face barriers to education due to social, emotional, or mental health difficulties.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant in this SEMH setting, you will play a vital role in helping students re-engage with learning. Working closely with teaching staff and support teams, you will provide one-to-one and small group interventions, helping students to build confidence, develop positive relationships, and make academic progress.
Responsibilities:

Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, both individually and in small groups

Build strong, trusting relationships that promote student engagement and self-esteem

Support teachers with behaviour management strategies and classroom routines

Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or additional needs

Confidence and compassion when managing challenging behaviour

A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach to student support

A genuine desire to help children thrive emotionally, socially, and academically

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
