Job description

Teaching Assistant – Permanent Position
Location: Hamilton Square

A highly reputable, award-winning group of special educational needs (SEN) schools is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the permanent staff team at one of their specialist schools in Hamilton Square. This is an excellent opportunity to support children and young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, helping them to achieve their potential within a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils, both in and outside of lessons.

  • Assist teachers in preparing and delivering engaging learning activities tailored to individual needs.

  • Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.

  • Promote pupils’ personal, social, and emotional development alongside their academic progress.

  • Help maintain a safe, positive, and stimulating classroom environment.

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, parents, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.

  • Assist in monitoring and recording pupil progress.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEN setting.

  • An understanding of special educational needs and a commitment to inclusive education.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.

  • A flexible, proactive, and collaborative approach to supporting learning and behaviour.

  • Ability to follow guidance from teaching staff while also using initiative.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
