Teaching Assistant – Specialist Provision (Wirral)
Full-Time | 8:30am – 3:30pm | Long-Term Opportunity

Are you a compassionate and resilient teaching assistant based in the Wirral area, looking to make a real difference in the lives of students who have experienced challenges in mainstream education?

A specialist school in Wirral is currently seeking a dedicated teaching assistant to support pupils who have previously struggled within traditional school settings. The school’s mission is to re-engage these learners, build their confidence, and ultimately support their successful transition back into mainstream education where possible.

This provision places a strong emphasis on building meaningful and trusting relationships with students. Staff work collaboratively to break down barriers to learning and create a nurturing, supportive environment where all pupils feel safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.

The students may have experienced social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties, and staff are committed to fostering positive relationships that help learners develop both academically and personally. The school aims to develop happy, healthy, safe, and independent young adults who are confident communicators and active members of their communities.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs

  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations

  • Be committed to helping pupils thrive and achieve their individual goals

  • Have experience working with children with SEMH or PMLD needs (desirable but not essential)

  • Work effectively as part of a supportive team of educators and support staff

Key Details:

  • Full-time hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (Monday to Friday)

  • Based in a specialist provision in the Wirral

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
