Schedule: Full Time

Contract: Temp to Perm

Location: Speke, L24

Start Date: October 2025

Pay Rate: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour (depending on experience)

 

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the heart of Speke is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, temp to perm basis. The school prides itself on creating a nurturing environment where every child is supported to reach their full potential, both academically and personally. With a strong emphasis on collaboration, staff are committed to providing an enriching curriculum tailored to meet the diverse needs of all pupils.

The successful candidate will support pupils with additional learning needs, including those with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans), working closely with the class teacher and the SENCO. This role may involve 1:1 support or small group interventions, helping to ensure children can access learning in a meaningful and inclusive way.

The school values resilience, patience, and a positive approach to behaviour and emotional regulation, and is looking for someone with a genuine passion for working with children with SEN. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is eager to make a real difference in a supportive and forward-thinking setting, with the potential for a permanent position following the initial temporary period.

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally in a primary school setting
  • Be confident supporting pupils with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH)
  • Be proactive and flexible, able to adapt strategies to meet individual pupil needs
  • Work well as part of a team, liaising effectively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Hold a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or be working towards one)
  • Have a patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
