Science Teacher - Second in Science

Job description

Small mixed comprehensive Secondary school in the Bury LEA require a Science Teacher with the responsibility of Second in Department to join their department from Easter 2018 or sooner if possible.

The school wish to appoint a Science teacher with previous leadership/middle leadership experience to support the Head of Department with tracking progress, supporting trainees and newly qualified teachers and ensuring that all students can excel within their studies.

Key responsibilities include-

  • Taking a lead in all aspects of Key Stage Three curriculum development, assessment and intervention
  • Mentoring and supporting newly qualified and trainee teachers
  • Following and implementing the ethos and values of the school
  • Analysing student performance and data

This permanent position commences following the Easter break, or sooner if possible.

The faculty have always performed in line with the national average and in 2017, 96% of students achieved a grade A*-G. In the Additional Science qualifications, 83% of pupils achieved a grade A*-C. The successful Second in Department will focus upon improving results further throughout their post." - Head Teacher

Our client Secondary school is situated towards the East of Bury town centre and serves a diverse and culturally rich community. There is a high percentage of pupils with English as an additional language (EAL) and support is in place to successfully integrate these students into mainstream classes.

There are a number of routes to the school as it is conveniently located near to the M66, M62 and M60 motorways. For non drivers, public transportation links from central Manchester and Rochdale also provide a direct route to the school.
