Position: SENDCO
Location: NN3, Northampton
Are you passionate about inclusive education and supporting the diverse needs of every student? Do you have extensive experience working along SEN children, supporting with a variety of different needs?
We’re currently looking for a Special Educational Needs Coordinator to work in one of our lovely schools based centrally to Northampton with a ‘Good’ Ofsted report. The school are actively recruiting for a SENDCO to join their team as of September 2024.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing the provision for students with SEND, ensuring their individual needs are met. Collaborating with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create personalized support plans.
- Monitoring the progress of students with SEND and implementing interventions where necessary.
- Providing guidance and support to teaching staff on best practices for inclusive teaching and learning.
- Building positive relationships with students, parents and other teachers/support staff within the department
- Keeping abreast of current legislation and best practices in SEND education.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to SEND provision
Requirements
- Qualified teacher status with additional qualifications or experience in SEND (National Award for SEN Coordination desirable).
- Strong understanding of SEND legislation, including the SEND Code of Practice. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with SEND.
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload effectively.
- Creativity and adaptability in devising strategies to support the individual needs of students.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying informed about current trends and research in SEND education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
