Location: West Bromwhich, Secondary School 

Start Date: Autumn 2025

About the role: 

We are looking for a caring and committed Pastoral Support Officer to join a secondary school in West Bromwich. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people’s wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development within a school setting.

Main Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day pastoral support to students across all year groups

• Work with pupils to promote positive behaviour, attendance, and engagement

• Offer guidance and emotional support to students facing personal or social challenges

• Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies where appropriate

• Support the implementation of behaviour and safeguarding policies

• Monitor attendance and punctuality, following up on concerns when needed

• Assist with reintegration meetings, behaviour plans, and pastoral interventions

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a school or youth support role

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

• Ability to remain calm and professional when managing challenging situations

• Confident working as part of a wider pastoral and safeguarding team

• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
