Teaching Personnel is the UK’s leading education recruitment agency. We are currently seeking an SEN teaching assistant to work at one of our local school’s in Weymouth. The school is a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) for Secondary school children who have been referred from the mainstream schools of Weymouth and Portland. Strong links are maintained with the local schools. This PRU has capacity for 64 students at any one time. This position is ideal for qualified teachers, NQT’s or someone looking to gain experience working in a school with Special Educational Needs.

What the role involves:

  • working within the class to support the class teacher with their lessons
  • working alongside a team of support staff in class
  • working on a 1-1 basis with students

This is a full time role, starting immediately. It is a temporary position but there is the opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate.

The successful candidate must:

  • Have experience working in schools and/or challenging behaviour
  • Be confident
  • Get stuck in
  • Be resillient

To be successful in this role it is desirable if you:

  • have experience working within a school setting
  • have experience working with children and/or adults with learning difficulties
  • be resilient and confident working with challenging behaviour
  • have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs, or a willingness to learn
  • Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the role of a Teaching Assistant in a special needs school
  • Have the ability to engage pupils in their learning and support them in their social, emotional and personal wellbeing
  • Have experience in ASC

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
