Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support
Location: New Forest
Salary: £13.75 per hour
A well-established school in the New Forest is seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to join their team supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of young people within a supportive and nurturing environment.
The school specialises in providing tailored education and care for pupils who experience a range of SEMH challenges, including anxiety, behavioural difficulties, and emotional regulation needs. The successful candidates will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and therapists to help students access learning, build resilience, and develop vital social and emotional skills.
Key Responsibilities:

Supporting children with SEMH needs during lessons and social activities

Assisting in the delivery of personalised support plans

Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

Encouraging social interaction and communication skills

Helping maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:

A valid Child Workforce DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one at own expense

Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
-
Experience working with children with SEMH needs is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided

Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
