Teaching Assistant – SEN School

Location: Aldershot

Pay: £13.75 per hour

Contract: Term Time Only (Monday to Friday)

 

A well-established specialist Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Aldershot is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a variety of additional needs. The school caters to children and young people with complex learning difficulties, communication needs, and social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.

Working closely with experienced teachers and multidisciplinary teams, the successful candidate will contribute to delivering personalised learning programmes and fostering pupils’ independence and confidence.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching staff in the delivery of personalised lessons adapted to meet individual needs.

  • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and developing essential skills across academic, social, and emotional areas.

  • Help manage behaviour in line with the school’s positive behaviour support strategies.

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support, including personal care when required.

  • Work collaboratively with staff and external professionals to support pupil progress and wellbeing.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable.

  • Patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to meet diverse pupil needs.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and maintaining a safe learning environment.
