Job description

A school based in Manchester is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join the support staff on a temporary basis. The role will focus on helping those with SEN in a variety of different ways. We encourage applications from:

- Those with prior experience working with children with SEN.

- Those who are wanting to pursue a career within the education sector.

- Those who are looking for invaluable secondary school experience before teacher training or an alternative course.

Knowledge of the following is essential:

  • Autism
  • Asperger’s Syndrome
  • Behavioural issues
  • Downs Syndrome
  • Multi-sensory impairment
  • Visual impairment

The role will begin in September 2020. 

Key aspects of this role include:

  • Working on an an individual basis with students, actively seeking to improve overall attainment as well as working on a more pastoral leve.
  • Developing and preparing adequate educational resources, and working in partnership with teaching staff to gauge the suitability of these based on the needs of a given individual (s).
  • Offering support and guidance to those with SEN within the classroom, as well as across the school site.
  • Managing behaviour expectations, understanding how these may differ for a child with SEN in comparison to those who do not have SEN.
  • Pay - GBP275-350 per week, based on prior experience.

The school is located in Manchester. There are several motorway links close by, allowing ease of access in getting to the school. Additionally, it is important to note that there are numerous public transport links within close proximity. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
