SEMH Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are recruiting on behalf of an SEMH provision for a compassionate and motivated Teaching Assistant to provide behaviour intervention and emotional support for students from September.

About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs. You’ll work alongside teachers and support staff to implement behaviour strategies, promote positive engagement, and help students access their learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support students with SEMH needs in both classroom and intervention settings

• Assist with implementing individual behaviour and learning plans

• Provide one-to-one and small group emotional and behavioural support

• Encourage positive behaviour and social skills development

• Work closely with teaching staff, SENCO, and external agencies

• Help monitor and record progress and behaviour incidents

Who We’re Looking For:

• Previous experience working with children/young people with SEMH or related needs

• Good understanding of behaviour management techniques

• Patient, empathetic, and resilient with strong communication skills

• Ability to work well as part of a team

• Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, behaviour support training) are desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
