Online Tutor

Job description

Online Tuition Available

Teaching Personnel Tuition Service supplies tutors to several local authorities across London, who are currently requesting staff to tutor on a 1:1 basis online, due to the current covid-19 situation.

The referrals that we get include:

  • Mostly secondary age students
  • Students who have additional needs – behaviour, SEN, mental health difficulties, LAC
  • Usually 2 hours per day and 5 days per week (exact timings flexible but must be during school hours)
  • Most students need to be tutored in both maths and English, at either functional skills level or foundation GCSE level

Our tutors currently use anything from zoom to Bramble to Microsoft Teams to deliver online learning. You can use whichever platform would be most suitable for yourself and for the student, and you will be required to plan, prepare and deliver all resources/materials.

  • GBP25/hour pay rate – we are a PAYE company (no umbrella company) and we will pay a pension contribution for you
  • An EHCP will be provided where possible
  • You have freedom to choose the structure of your sessions, and to choose which topics you would like to deliver and in what order
  • You will be asked to report back briefly just once per week, on student progress

After lockdown, it is likely that tuition will return to family homes, local libraries, children’s homes or any other public venue. It would therefore be beneficial if you live in either South East London or East London, as this is where we get most of our referrals from. Having said that, if you live elsewhere, please get in touch to register your interest for online learning only.

Please contact Louise by sending your CV to start the registration process.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
