Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting on behalf of a College in CV11 who are seeking a Mental Health Teaching Assistant on a full time basis, to begin in September.
The college has strong partnerships with major employers and universities, and excellent international relationships. Students learning is enhanced through a range of purpose-designed training based on specific areas and industry include CAD Engineering, Hospitality, Catering, Construction and Electrical Installation. The college caters for students with mixed Special Educational Needs including complex needs, Autism, SEMH and Learning Difficulties.
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you'll offer practical help and emotional support to young people. The focus of your role is to provide support to vulnerable students to engage them within their education. The students you will be required to work with will need emotional support and nurture to empower them.
Your role will vary depending on the individual needs of the students you are working with, usually on a 1:1 basis and the ages of the students will vary from 14-18.
Due to the nature of the College some of the students you will be required to work with may display some of the following behaviours:
- Social anxiety
- Challenging behaviour
- Drug and alcohol addiction
- Language barriers
- Physical and mental health issues, disabilities and learning difficulties
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant you will be required to work on a 1:1 basis to provide support and guidance in vocational subjects including hospitality, catering and construction.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with Social, Emotional and Mental health Difficulties and managing challenging behaviour. However, the client school will also accept candidates with backgrounds in youth work, counselling and graduates. Through Teaching Personnel's CPD academy we can also support your professional development with our upcoming training opportunities including Team-Teach and Effective Behaviour Management. Our Team of SEN Specialist consultants can enrol you onto your desired course and provide continued guidance for those with a keen interest in making a difference to young people's education.
