QTS Maths Teacher required to work at a high achieving school for September!

The School:

This mixed and multicultural comprehensive has students ranging from 11-16.The School has brand new facilities for Science, Technology, Music, Art and Drama which provide outstanding learning resources for a 21st century curriculum. The beautiful grounds has been totally updated and refurbished we have brand new catering, play and sports facilities.

The students recent GCSE results for English and Maths where extremely impressive, the school hopes the science department can reach these levels.

90% of all students pass English
81% of all students pass Mathematics
77% of all students achieve pass grades in English and Mathematics
10% of all students achieve a level 9
1 in 3 students achieve at least 3 A/A* grades
9% of all exam results A* (or above)
59% of all students achieve 5+ in both English and Mathematics

The Department:

In Year 10 and Year 11, students begin their GCSE course in full, following the Edexcel GCSE Mathematics (9-1) Specification. Students study units from either the Higher or Foundation specification, with each unit lasting between 2-3 weeks.

Throughout the GCSE course, students are assessed using exam-style questions in order to best prepare them for the GCSE paper. Students are also regularly exposed to rich problems, encouraging them to become independent mathematicians, make connections and ask questions - all skills we believe are essential to successfully study mathematics at A-level and beyond.

As a Maths Specialist academy, the department regularly promote and organise many whole school events such as 'Mathematician of the Moment' , the much coveted 'Maths relay competition', as well as entering students into ARK-wide and national competitions such as the UK Mathematics Trust Maths Challenge.
