Job description

Teaching Personnel have partnered with a nation SEN school group who are seeking to appoint a Maths Teaching from September 2025

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging and differentiated Maths lessons to students across key stages, catering to a diverse range of special educational needs. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of young people, helping them to develop essential mathematical skills, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, differentiated Maths lessons that are tailored to the individual learning styles and needs of students with SEN, in line with the National Curriculum and relevant examination specifications (e.g., Entry Level, Functional Skills, GCSE).

  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes student engagement, curiosity, and a love for mathematics.

  • Utilise a variety of teaching strategies, resources, and technologies to make Maths accessible and meaningful for all learners.

  • Assess, monitor, record, and report on the progress and attainment of all students, providing constructive feedback and adapting teaching accordingly.

  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs) for students, collaborating with other professionals and parents/carers.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other support staff to provide a holistic and integrated learning experience.

  • Contribute to the development of the Maths curriculum, ensuring it is relevant, engaging, and meets the needs of our SEN cohort.

  • Participate in school-wide initiatives, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.

  • Uphold the school's policies and procedures, including those related to safeguarding and child protection.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • A degree in Mathematics or a related subject.

  • Proven experience teaching Maths to secondary school-aged students.

  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.

  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • A commitment to continuous professional development.

  • Patience, empathy, resilience, and a sense of humour.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
