Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary SEN school in Southampton.
About the Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students aged 11–16 who have a range of additional needs, including autism (ASC), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, and moderate learning difficulties (MLD).
Your role will involve:
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to students in and out of the classroom.
- Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and differentiated activities.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Helping students to build confidence, communication, and life skills.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children or young people (school, care, or youth setting).
- A patient, empathetic and resilient approach to supporting learning.
- A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to education.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one through Teaching Personnel).
