SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Southampton

Location: Southampton
Start Date: November 2025
Contract: Part-Time and Full-Time Opportunities Available

We’re seeking caring and resilient individuals to provide 1:1 support for pupils with Special Educational Needs across welcoming and inclusive primary schools in the Southampton area.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential in a supportive environment.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN, such as autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, or social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to working with children.
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude.
  • A genuine passion for supporting inclusion and pupil development.
  • Previous experience in a school setting or relevant qualifications is desirable but not essential.

About the role:

  • Provide 1:1 classroom and pastoral support for a pupil with specific learning or emotional needs.
  • Adapt learning materials and approaches to meet individual targets.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies and monitor progress.
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and positive behaviour in every child.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing learning environment that promotes well-being and engagement.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
