Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School (Poole)
Location: Poole
Salary: £13.75 per hour
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, Temp-to-Perm

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Poole to recruit a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a September start. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a committed team supporting students aged 11-18, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Role Overview:

As an LSA, you will work alongside teaching staff to provide both academic and pastoral support to students with additional needs. Your role will be key in helping learners to overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve their personal best in a supportive secondary school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored support to students with SEN, both one-to-one and in small groups.

  • Collaborate with teachers to adapt learning materials to suit individual needs.

  • Create a safe, encouraging space where students feel valued and supported.

  • Track and report student progress to teaching staff and contribute to reviews.

  • Encourage student independence, resilience, and engagement with learning.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students, particularly those with SEN.

  • A calm, nurturing and proactive approach to supporting students.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.

  • A Teaching Assistant qualification or similar (preferred but not essential).

  • An enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willingness to obtain one).

  • The right to work in the UK.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
