Job Advert: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Secondary School (Preston)

Location: Preston
Contract Dates: November 3rd – December 19th, 2025
Hours: Full-time (term time only)
Salary: £90–£110 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a thriving secondary school in Preston for a short-term assignment from 3rd November to 19th December 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a supportive school environment, working closely with teaching staff to enhance student learning and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver pre-prepared lessons and supervise classes in the absence of a teacher.

• Support students with their learning across a range of subjects, with a focus on Key Stages 3 and 4.

• Assist in the planning, preparation, and assessment of learning activities under teacher guidance.

• Provide targeted interventions for individuals and small groups, including those with SEND.

• Contribute to the wider school community and uphold school behaviour and safeguarding policies.

Requirements:

• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in a UK secondary school setting.

• Confident delivering lessons and managing classroom behaviour.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• A proactive, flexible approach and ability to work independently.

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
