SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time (Maternity Cover)
Secondary School, Chorley
Start Date: 3rd November 2025
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only (Maternity Cover)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are seeking a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming secondary school in Chorley on a maternity cover contract, starting 3rd November 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a supportive team and help students thrive both academically and socially.

About the Role:

You will work closely with students with a range of Special Educational Needs (including autism, ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties), providing in-class support and some 1:1 or small group intervention. You’ll also work alongside teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to ensure each student receives the individualised support they need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEN across KS3 and KS4

  • Assist teachers in delivering differentiated lessons

  • Provide targeted support to individuals or small groups

  • Foster positive relationships and encourage engagement

  • Monitor progress and contribute to support plans

  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment

We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN

  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
