Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School | Poole, Dorset | September 2025 Start

Teaching Personnel is delighted to be working with a forward-thinking secondary school in Poole, Dorset, to recruit a committed and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a full-time role starting in September 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people, especially those who may need additional support to overcome barriers to learning.


About the Role:

As an LSA, you’ll be a key figure in the day-to-day support of students across a range of year groups and subject areas. Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff, you’ll help ensure that all students – including those with special educational needs, autism, ADHD, or emotional/behavioural challenges – feel supported, included, and empowered to achieve.

Duties will include:

  • Providing in-class support to help students access the curriculum

  • Running small group sessions or 1:1 interventions tailored to individual needs

  • Supporting students’ emotional wellbeing and social development

  • Assisting with behaviour management and encouraging positive engagement

  • Collaborating with staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with young people (e.g., in schools, youth work, care, coaching)

  • A calm, patient, and positive attitude

  • A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs

  • A valid DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one via Teaching Personnel

  • Full-time availability from September 2025

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
